COMPANION SERIES--BIBLICAL FIGURES:
Joseph, the father of Jesus wandered out of the Egyptian desert over two thousand years ago. He entered a confusing world of mixed cultures to confront the religious and political issues that rocked the world of his time, and still do. He became caught up in the maelstrom of events in Jerusalem that shook the world. He was there at the birthing of Christianity. This is his story, a fictional recounting of what it may have been like to live through those troublesome times with a son like Jesus. This book contains few Sunday school lessons; it is intended for mature readers.
I am the Holy Mother, mother of Jesus Christ; I was not always so. Once I was a little girl who grew up on the edge of the desert, innocent and protected. I had to experience life to become worthy of my mission. I would seek my destiny and no one could deter me.
Follow the story of my life as I grew up to be the all-time heroine that nobody understood. Watch my life unfold as I progress from child to saint. Follow my travels from the Syrian Desert to Nazareth. Suffer with me when they crucify my son. Learn about life in Judea that started out so promising but turned into a nightmare. Escape with my husband and me as we seek refuge in Alexandria, Egypt.
COMPANION SERIES--EXPLOITS of the SEXIEST DETECTIVE:
He provides us with entertainment as we follow his adventures in his fantasy world. Smile a little as you watch Randy playing the fool to reassure himself of his masculinity. Enjoy reading about the adventures of an interesting dinosaur in an unreal world. The characters in the stories become alive because they are multifaceted, not just good or bad. They are complex and changing like the circumstances of life itself. This series of books covers a wide range of topics and it was written to entertain mature readers.
PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS:
Read and learn of a life-- one, both exciting and dangerous. Get to know one of these so-called “senseless killers.” Politicians hope that the solution to gun violence in schools is to place armed guards in schools. Guns are not the answer. Let us try a unique approach-- understanding.
“Fifty Shades of Grey” is such a novel, too, and it provoked worldwide interest. The present volume offers a chance to look into the psyche of a different kind of a seducer, perhaps the flip side of Grey.
Not all dominating males act like brutes. The reader needs to recognize that there are other ways to establish male dominance. The subtle approach of the anti-hero of this novel is insidious because his type usually goes unrecognized. He exerts dominance by misdirection and passivity in his confrontations so that he will appear to be a “Nice guy.” He pretends passive compliance to give his partner a false sense of control.
This novel contains explicit sexual content that some of you may find unpleasant. This does not diminish the book’s value as a learning tool. From this tale you may gain understanding that will help you conquer the devil that lies in wait for you. You will see how your most modest sexual desires can provide the handhold for an outsider to manipulate you and penetrate your castle. Remember that disruptive sexual behavior arises because the normal outlet for expression is repressed. If you don’t believe me then go ask Freud.
Because of the potency of the content of this novel, it would be well for the reader to keep in mind that the actual author is a professional clinical psychologist, publishing under the pseudonym of Jonathan P. Slow. Many years of his professional experience and understanding are concealed by his facetious pseudonym.
CROSS-CULTURAL:
Zach finds people with real feelings in Latin America and he wants to share his life with them. He establishes his own Latin American family and tries to live a simple life. With his Protestant American orientation, he feels the need to improve the life of rural villagers in his wife’s country of Gualamata. He serves his Lord and wants to make Gualamata the paradise it should be. Conflicts tear his precious new family apart. Money, Greed, Man’s Evil Nature; all thwart his efforts to do the “right thing.”
Foreign aid must be on the donor’s terms to get Congressional approval, not that of the recipient. Zach tries to channel the Gringo contributions into useful directions but divergent interests thwart him. The beneficent Gringos become the envy of the natives who want to preserve their own way of life and still have the Gringos pouring out their largesse. Life doesn’t work that way. Ultimately, there is only a future of disappointment and disaster.
Follow the transformation of the family businesses from slavers to respectable traders. Travel with the new generations as they intermarry and seek new lives all over the world. Follow them as their successors learn of their heritage. Mix that with your imagination and apply a little geography. You will realize that all of us are draped in Joseph’s cloak of variegated colors.
Some notes about his son, an early settler in French Canada, distracted me. Sketchy historical accounts trace Martin Provost’s life from his birth in Paris in 1611 to his death in French Canada 80 years later. We descendants of Martin are proud of our illustrious forefather, and have recorded and disseminated scattered factual knowledge about him. As a novelist, I wanted to make Martin Provost emerge from the historical shadows and tell us his story. I wanted him to become alive and animated.
